Happiness is...

After approximately 400 hours of phone conversations, 250,000 words of emails, 75,000 lines of chat, and a dozen visits……………

WE’RE GETTING MARRIED!!!

…and we’re quite happy about it too.

*the fine print for those who care: we are planning to get married as soon as we can after I get back from the Middle East - sometime in August 2009.  During this next year Greg will be finishing his fulltime college in Lynchburg, and I will be living and working in Fujairah, UAE.  After we get married, we plan to live in the Lynchburg area for Greg’s school and work.  Please pray for us as we plan our wedding and look forward to spending our lives together.

thoughts on "compliments"

Is it a compliment when people tell you that "your eyes look so blue!"? I always wondered that. What are you supposed to answer - "oh, you're right!"..."they are?"..."you're not colorblind...good for you."

Then there's practically nothing you can say to beat their logic either - "well, your eyes are so hazel!" Oooh.

It's kinda like the whole "your hair is so long!" thing. "yeah...uh, you're right..." Something that's not quite a compliment, and yet not necessarily meant as anything else.

It also cracks me up (oh, I do it too) when people compliment you on your outfit choice. "That's such pretty fabric!" Or "where did you get that?!" "that looks nice on you."

Might as well just say it like it is "I'm surprised you look nice today - bless your heart!"

...I'm glad I spend my time thinking about important things...

Spring Break 2008

The Verity Spring Break has arrived, and with its arrival the students of the '08 and '09 class have disappeared from anywhere near the vicinity of South Campus.

Except for me.  Instead, I took a week off a couple weeks ago for my own personal spring break, because I don't believe in following the crowd.  I left a week after I dislocated my elbow "snowboarding" - the first picture is the xray of what it looked like for approximately 4 hours on a lovely Saturday afternoon, and the second is the current state  of the elbow (it obviously doesn't show muscles, tendons, ligaments, and such)

(you're welcome)

It was an exciting trip.  Supposedly my elbow should be completely back to normal in a couple more weeks.  That would be nice.

My spring break was great.  The weather was beautiful, and the company was excellent.    It was great to take a week (mostly) off school, but it was wonderful to spend time with Greg and his family again (right Beth? )

(sorry Mose, I'm afraid I managed not to get a single picture of B's wedding...)

And now I'm here at an (almost) empty South Campus, with not much but feeding fish to keep me occupied...

But... there are places I'd rather be...

Minnesota, circa June, 2005:

I know - they are adorable, thank you.  (and as usual, Mom did an amazing job with her flower gardens)

p.s. Happy Birthday Ben!
